Abstract |
Indonesia still in struggle to fulfil staple food needs, primarily to increase rice production. Huge potential could come from inundated land and by utilizing submergence tolerant rice varieties (SRV). However, its utilization was still low because of not optimized innovation communication especially for SRV and hampered by various external factors such as government policies, production input availability, markets absorption and culturee. Government policies determine the continuity of communications among various institutions and other stakeholders such as extension institutional, seed producers and traders. The results of the research showed that the communicator, innovation and government policies are determinants of the rate of innovation diffusion, while communication channels and family profile are not . … |

Abstract |
The study area is characterized by high population density which leads to fragmentation of farmlands. The farmers continue to cultivate small farmlands using local varieties with low levels of technology resulting in depletion of soil nutrients with consequent reduction in yield per unit area. There is need to increase productivity through intensification of farming activities. As such, on-farm researcher-designed farmer-managed field trial was conducted in 2011 . . … |

There is need to increase productivity through intensification of farming activities. As such, on-farm researcher-designed farmer-managed field trial was conducted in 2011 wet season to evaluate the best system(s) and optimum level of fertilization at which millet will perform better in mixture with legumes under improved strip cropping (4 X 4) systems and traditional farmer practice in selected 15 communities in Kano State, Nigeria. The experiment was analyzed as a randomized block design (RBD). . … |

Abstract |
Kathali (Musa sp) is the most promising banana cultivar grown by farmers in Jaffna. Post-harvest losses are very high in banana during transport and storage. Post-harvest losses could be reduced by extending green shelf-life of banana. A study was carried out to assess the effects of gibberellic acid (GA3) treatments on extending shelf-life of banana cultivar ‘kathali’. Four concentrations of GA3 (250 ppm, 350 ppm, 500 ppm, 750 ppm) were applied by dipping method. The banana fruits were then packed in corrugated fibre boxes and kept at room temperature. . … |

STANDARDIZATION OF SEMANTIC DIFFERENTIAL SCALES FOR MEASUREMENT OF SENIOR SCHOOL STUDENTS’ ATTITUDE TO AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE |
Author/s | OLATUNJI, S. O. (PHD) |
Source | International Journal of Research In Agriculture and Food Sciences pp 05 – 14 Vol 03. No. 01– 2015 |
Abstract | Involvement of Nigeria’s teaming youths in the agricultural transformation process has been a major challenge, especially as most farmers are ageing. The current research fills the gap by standardizing the inventory which Olatunji developed for use in the measurement of students’ attitude to agriculture. Through multistage sampling procedure, a sample of 1064 male and female Senior School One (SS1) Students were selected from the population of 51,300 from Abia, Ebonyi and Imo States of Nigeria. The validated semantic differential scales for measurement of Senior School Students’ attitude to agricultural science which was developed by Olatunji in 2014 was administered to the study sample. … |
